FY 2021 State Justice Statistics Program for Statistical Analysis Centers (SJS-SAC) Technical Assistance Program

    The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is seeking applications for funding to administer activities under the FY 2021 State Justice Statistics Program for Statistical Analysis Centers (SJS-SAC) Technical Assistance Program. This program supports the collection, analysis, and dissemination of statistical information on crime and criminal justice at the state and local level.

    Eligibility: Eligible applicants include: City or Township, County, Special district, and State governments; For profit organizations other than small businesses; Federally recognized Native American tribal governments; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); Nonprofits with and without a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Private institutions and Public and State controlled institutions of higher education.

FY 2021 NICS Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP)

    The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is seeking applications for funding for the 2021 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP). This program furthers the Department's mission by enhancing the completeness, automation, and transmittal of records to state and federal systems used by the NICS. Eligible states and tribes may receive grant funding to improve the completeness, automation, and transmittal of records to state and federal systems. For the purpose of this solicitation, the term "state" includes the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.

The state or territory central administrative office or similar entity designated by statute or regulation to administer federal grant funds on behalf of the jurisdiction's court system. Federally recognized tribal governments.

FY 2021 National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP)

This program furthers the Department's mission to reduce violent crime and address gun violence by enhancing the criminal justice capabilities of U.S. state and tribal governments by improving the accuracy, utility, and interstate accessibility of criminal-history and related records in support of national record systems and their use for name- and fingerprint-based criminal history background checks. FY 2021 Continuation of the Federal Justice Statistics Program

    The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is seeking applications for funding for the fiscal year (FY) 2021 continuation of the Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP). This data collection program is a component of the BJS Criminal Justice Statistics Program. The FJSP provides information on the federal criminal case processing of defendants arrested, prosecuted, adjudicated, sentenced, and in prison, with a focus on linking records across stages of the case process. BJS has sought to maximize the utility of the FJSP by providing the data and tools to support evidence-based analyses for DOJ and other executive, legislative, and judicial branch agencies. This includes expanding the information available through the Federal Criminal Case Processing query tool and demonstrating new ways the federal data, especially through record-linkage tools, can be analyzed to develop evidence to support policymaking. This program furthers the Department's mission by increasing transparency, collaboration, and reporting of federal criminal justice agencies.

    Eligibility: Eligible applicants include national, regional, state, or local public and private entities, for-profit and nonprofit (including tribal) organizations, faith-based and community organizations; institutions (including tribal) of higher education, units of local government that support initiatives to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system, and federally recognized Indian tribal governments (as determined by the Secretary of the Interior).

FY 2021 Local Jail Reporting Program (LJRP) Pilot Test

This pilot test will collect individual-level administrative record data from 10 large jails.
