On this page, the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) will provide criminal justice information in Application Programming Interface (API) format.
The APIs are free of charge, do not require registration, and allow unlimited access. Please read the terms of service for using the APIs.
To get started, select an API from the list below. The APIs support REST formatted requests and provide researchers and developers with end-points
in XML, JSON, and CSV formats along with related codebooks, methodology, and metadata.
As other criminal justice datasets are made available in API format, they will be added to the list below.

The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) RESTful API is a web service that provides data on violent and property victimization by select victim, household, and incident characteristics. The NCVS is the nation's primary source of information on criminal victimization. It is an annual data collection conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau for the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The NCVS collects information from a nationally representative sample of U.S. households on nonfatal crimes, reported and not reported to the police, against persons age 12 or older.
