FAQ Detail
Does the NCVS estimate crime on the state and/or local level?

No. The NCVS is based on a nationally representative sample of households. Estimates from the NCVS are done by gathering information from this sample and weighting it up to the national level. This sample does not necessarily include households from every state or locality. As a result, the NCVS can not generate any estimates on the state or local level.
